FAQ

Sales & Customer Care

Do you offer a warranty?

Mikoleon warrants any original Mikoleon footwear, backpacks, and small leather good products against manufacturer's defect for up to six (6) months after the original purchase from any authorized seller (purchases made through any BST Facebook Pages are not covered in this warranty). Wear and fit issues are not considered to be manufacturer's defects and are not covered. Weather and water damage
are also not covered under this warranty.

If your Mikoleon product suffers from a manufacturer's defect within six (6) months of purchase, we will gladly repair the item. If it cannot be repaired, we will replace it with the same style, size, and color. If the item cannot be replaced, we will issue a Mikoleon Shop Credit for use on our website in the amount of your original purchase. Irreparable items will not be returned to customer. Repairs will be done with original Mikoleon parts when available, otherwise repairs will be done with comparable parts.

Product must be returned to Mikoleon before a new pair can be sent. All shipping for approved manufacturing warranty exchanges will be paid by Mikoleon.

How does a size exchange work?

Bummer! Your boots or shoes didn't fit and now you need to do an exchange! Please go to our form here, fill it out, and follow the instructions.

Do I have to pay sales tax?

You only have to pay sales tax if you live in Utah.

Do you wholesale to retailers?

The short answer is no. Our production limits do not allow us to wholesale. Thank you for asking!

What is a Preorder?

We manufacture product based on demand. A Preorder allows you to order your specific size and style without having to compete with other customers for a limited amount of inventory. The difference between a Preorder and Restock is that with the first we make product to order, and with the second we make inventory and replenish it on our site as needed.

Shipping & Returns

When will I receive my order?

For PREORDER Events (preorder means we don't have items in stock)
Please take note that Preorders take 3 weeks for shipping after your order has been placed because after you place your order we have to still make your goods. Once your item is made we will ship it via USPS or UPS. It will take USPS/UPS an additional 4-7 days to deliver your order after we ship it. You will receive an automated email with your shipping information and a tracking number, you can track your package as it moves through the shipper’s system, if you don’t see your package moving, you need to let us know asap.

Lost or Missing Packages

Mikoleon LLC is not responsible for any lost or stolen packages. If you provided us with the wrong shipping address we are not liable to give you a refund or replacement of the product that you purchased. For domestic orders, if you never received your package and it says it was delivered please contact your local post office with the tracking number that you received when purchasing and they will further assist you.

If your package has been lost in transit or was delivered to the wrong address, we are here to help you recover your package or to file a claim with the shipper so you can have their insurance cover your loss. Please follow these steps below, and please be patient and know that the process may take more time than you would like.

1.Go to your local USPS office and ask personally for information about the package. Let them know that your vendor (that’s us) paid an additional fee for “Signature Required for Delivery” to avoid this type of mishaps.
2.Have all your information ready, including tracking number of the package, shipping date, etc.
3.Ask the post office clerk to check their GPS records to see where your package was delivered. Ask for a copy of it if possible. This is to determine that it was delivered at the wrong door or address or to show that it was delivered to your actual door but it may have been stolen.
4.If your package was delivered to the wrong address, then USPS will be more likely to pay for the lost package, or they can contact the household and ask for the package back, unless you know the family where it was delivered, we don’t recommend that you go knock on their door to ask for the package, let USPS/UPS handle it.
5.If your package was delivered to your door based on GPS information, then we recommend that you ask a few neighbors if they have seen the package or if they saw anyone picking it up.
6.If your package was delivered at your door and it was stolen, USPS will not pay for the missing package.
7.Since we do pay extra for the feature “Signature Required for Delivery”, and if the USPS employee signed for the package, it may be easier to have USPS pay your claim.
8.When you have all the information about your package, go to https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm to file your claim.
9.Please let us know if you have any questions and if you are able to find your package. Also, if USPS pays your claim.
10.Please note that USPS insurance covers up to $100 of a lost item, not more.

Mikoleon Insurance is available!
For future reference, Mikoleon offers the option to buy insurance for your package, no questions asked. Insurance for a package up to $100 is $2.95 for packages of up to $200 is $9.95 and for packages of up to $450 is $19.95. We will replace the original item you purchased free of hassle.

Why is international shipping so expensive?

We try to get the best rates possible for shipping but being a small company, we don't get the lowest rates possible.  As we grow we will continue to negotiate rates in hopes that we can continually lower shipping rates.  If you have your own shipping account with UPS, DHL or FEDEX, you can use that instead.

What make your products so special?

Craftsmanship, sustainability, and our commitment to slow fashion and circular manufacturing principles. We value quality, classic design, and fair trade. Our boots and shoes are crafted by world class cobblers and made from certified full grain leathers. Our textiles are foot-loomed from 100% cotton thread, they are free of chemicals and easy to care for. We believe that beautiful and premium quality textiles should not cost us the earth!

Who and where do you make your products?

We make our products!  Our boots and shoes are made in our shop located in Antigua, Guatemala. Our weavers are in San Marcos and Chichicastenango. When you purchase our boots and dresses, you are providing sustainable jobs to skilled artisans and helping them provide for their families.

When do you restock products?

We try to restock inventory every Friday at 10 AM MST.  To know exactly when items will be restocked, follow us on Instagram [@mikoleonkids] as we always announce when and what we will be restocking that week. You can sign up to our mailing list to receive special announcements and discounts.

Product Care

How do I condition and wear-proof my boots?

We recommend our Smith's Leather Balm. This is a three in one balm that functions as a cleaner, conditioner, and leather protector! We know that you care about your full grain leather boots and shoes and we wanted to bring you the best natural product to care for them. After much research and testing, we think we found the best and easiest product for you! It's all natural, of course, and is made in the USA! It's easy to use and natural, your kids can apply it to their own boots!

Social Responsibility

Are you a "fair trade" company?

Mikoleon LLC takes pride in paying fair prices for our raw materials to vendors, and we pay excellent benefits and wages to all our employees, in both, the USA and Guatemala.

Do you pay fair wages and offer maternity leave?

Absolutely!  Our fabric manufacturers are 100% compliant to Guatemala's local laws and regulations; with zero tolerance policy towards child labor, forced labor, discrimination, harassment and abuse.  Employees also have an unconditionally healthy and secure work environment, as well as freedom of association and fair labor practices. They work with a workers union which deals directly with the Administration Department, together reaching agreements which offer a favorable environment for all. Our in house employees have all the benefits the law in Guatemala requires such as medical, social security, maternity leave and vacation benefits.  In addition, we provide them with personal scholarships, micro loans for education purposes and software training.  This allows them to be better prepared to perform their jobs.
